Access Pack now available

Festability - Access Pack

Our phones and emails are busy with lots of questions about the day.

We were going to post a FAQ type post.  However, then the lovely Ossyfest (now Fest For All) shared their amazing Access Pack with us and this seemed like the perfect solution.  We are so grateful that they were happy to share this,  it is a fantastic resource.    I love it when people are happy to share their learning or their resources.  It always feels like we really are a community.

If you are in the North West and want to go to a festival with a similar theme to Festability but can’t get to Kent this weekend, head over to Fest For All’s Facebook page and give them a like so you can stay up to date.

We are thrilled to announce that we now have our own Access Pack (and for those at Fest For All, it may seem like they’ve seen something similar before)!  It can be downloaded either by clicking on the link here or by clicking on the image below.

Festability - Access Pack

Online ticket sales close on Friday 11th at 6pm.

Who is performing and when?

Festability

It’s all happening here at Festability headquarters.  Our Information Stands have been announced, our trade stalls are being announced throughout the week on Facebook and now, the one you have all been waiting for….. the line up and timings.

Festability

We have two stages at the event – they will be playing acts alternately throughout the day.

  • 11.45 – 12.00    Foreland Fields
  • 12.00 – 12.15    SEN_Sational
  • 12.15 – 12.45    No Idea
  • 12.45 – 13.30    Magga Tiempo
  • 13.30 – 14.30    Shaken Albert
  • 14.30 – 15.15    Smokin’ Mavericks
  • 15.15 – 15.45    The AutistiX
  • 15.45 – 16.45    Hullabaloo
  • 16.45 – 17.45    Gypskazz
  • 17.45 – 18.45    Stoned
  • 18.45 – 20.00    Kind of Mercury

We think you will agree, this is a pretty amazing line up.  Some of the biggest bands in Kent will be here to entertain you.

In addition to this, we have a karaoke tent (for all the people who want to be on stage but need a bit more practice).

Don’t forget we also have an Activities Tent offering a variety of workshops (inc yoga, sing and sign, drumming and more) throughout the day – all of which are included in the price of your ticket.

There’s a fairground, inflatables, trade stalls, information stalls, a Chill Out area and more.  You will really don’t want to miss this event.  It is everything a festival should be – with just the added bonus of being inclusive in as many ways as possible.

Online tickets can be purchased until Friday 11th at 6pm and then after that, tickets will have to be bought on the day (but they will be more expensive).

We can’t wait to see you there on Saturday.

Thanks to University of Kent

We have been totally overwhelmed at all the help and support we have been given by so many people and organisations.   From helping with event management to volunteering on the day, from providing services for little or no cost to sponsoring acts or events.

The response has been pretty amazing.

University of Kent has come through with a really useful offer for Festability.

Ear Defenders

We are thrilled to announce that they have provided us with a number of disposable ear defenders for the day.

For many of the people attending, it may be their first ever Festival or live event, so they won’t know what to expect.  We would hate you to have to leave shortly after arriving just because the noise was too much.

We have about 100 disposable ear defenders and we also have about 15 non-disposable ones.

The disposable ear defenders are free (although a small donation towards Festability 2019 would be great – if you can but we totally understand if you can’t).  However, the non-disposable ones will have a £10 deposit as these will need to be returned to us.

If you think there is a chance you may need ear defenders on the day, email debs@festability.co.uk to be added to the list.

Competition Time – A prize worth winning

In the current age of YouTube and a variety of live streaming events on social media, so many of our children and young people want to be famous.

If they are anything like my children, you will have found American words being introduced into your daily chats and if you’re really lucky (and I use that term with my tongue firmly in my cheek), your child or young person may also narrate your life in a faux American accent.

A chance to be centre stage

Here’s your chance to win their dream moment – a chance to be centre stage.

We are looking for MCs for Festability – people to introduce the acts before they play.

Do you know anyone who would like to do it?  Your child, young person or perhaps someone you care for?

Have you bought your tickets yet?

We are running a competition to find a few MCs for the day – open to everyone who has bought their ticket before 30 April.

If you are interested, then complete the form below, providing us with booking reference, before the 1 May, 2018.

We have a few spaces available so there’s more than one chance of winning.

We will draw the winners on 4 May and let you know that weekend.  That gives you a week to prepare your MC moments.

Good luck!!!

Festability meets Shaken Albert

We are delighted to confirm that Shaken Albert will be joining us at Festability on 12 May.

‘.A five piece cover band from Kent, covering only the best rock and indie music from the last six decades”

A quick chat with Shaken Albert:

Tell us how the band came about

The band formed in October 2016, we wanted to create a band that didn’t just do the classic indie pop music;  we wanted to try and bring some of the other songs from that genre to life that people loved but may have forgotten about.

Where is the strangest place you have ever played a gig?

We don’t really have a strange place that we gigged they have all been pretty good. we did a gig last year that was supposed to be a 40th birthday party and turned into a wedding which we had no idea was going to happen if we had known we might have prepared our set-list a little better.

Which band member makes the band laugh the most

Everyone in the band is funny in there own way, we all make each other laugh but our bass player Andy probably makes us laugh the most.

Biggest audience you have played to?

The biggest audience was probably our debut gig at the Sheppey Pirates Festival 2017. Even though the weather was miserable for most of the day the crowds stayed and it was great night an amazing experience. We are playing the Iwade Rock Festival this year which will beat that and of course Festability which will no doubt beat the pirates festival too..

Hot dog or Burger?

Burger with cheese of course!!

why are you keen to play at festability?

We first heard about Festability from a friend of ours and when i found out exactly what the festival was for and who it would be helping i knew right there and then we had to email you guys as we all wanted to help out. To be a part of something that is going to do so much good for the people that need it is amazing. Its a fantastic idea and im sure that it will be everything everyone is expecting and i hope we get to come back next year and help out again..

Festability meets Gypskazz

We are delighted to confirm that Gypskazz will be joining us at Festability on 12 May.

‘The recipe for Gypskazz begins with the combination of two of the world’s most infectious rhythms, gypsy jazz and ska, then goes on to heap a whole bunch of international flavours on top!

Balkan, Arabic, African, Reggae, Rock and Latin jostle with film and classical strands in a decidedly rich mix.”

A quick chat with Gypskazz:

Tell us how the band came about

The band was put together by MelZebra after she moved to Whitstable from London.

Where is the strangest place you have ever played a gig?

Hmm, there’s been a few.  However, the giant cow shed for Canterbury Beer Festival and St Thomas’ Hospital stand out!

Which band member makes the band laugh the most

CJ probably (not always intentionally!)

Biggest audience you have played to?

Probably the packed Market Square at last year’s Faversham Hop Festival

Hot dog or Burger?

I think we are more of a Burger band

why are you keen to play at festability?

As Gypskazz is a band that has members that live with disabilities that they have never let limit them, it has always been at our core that we should inspire others to feel similarly.
